SWEEP( Sand Waste Elimination and Environmental Protection) is an autonomous robot with the capability to traverse a defined path, collect the waste and segregate it. It is aimed to contribute in the world wide initiatives for beach cleanliness thus improving marine ecosystem.
With the increasing popularity of beaches, the amount of waste
accumulated and left unattended have significantly increased. This large
heaps of waste leads to numerous environmental issues such as beach
erosion, destruction of marine life, affects tourism etc.
Governments and various NGO’s have undertaken certain programs to
improve the condition of beaches today but the need of labour and
capital makes such initiatives difficult to execute as well as these
factors reduce the repeatability of these initiatives.
We at
DRISHTI have developed our concept of an autonomous robot which will
able to traverse in a defined path according to the geographical
conditions, collect the wastes and equipped with an autonomous
segregation system.
We aim to reduce the need for labour and cut
down costs using these robots.
We believe SWEEP can
significantly improve the efficiency of such drives and directly or
indirectly contribute to the improvement of the environment.
